HAMLET — Richmond Community College has secured $20,000 in customized training for textile manufacturer Service Thread. A large portion of that will cover the cost of training employees on a new line of textile machines that will provide a greater level of flexibility and winding quality for coarse technical yarns.

PINEHURST — Certified Physician Assistant Kristen Burton has joined Michael Sundborg, M.D., the area’s first gynecologic oncologist, Brian Burgess, D.O., Ph.D., and Adara Maness, PA-C, at FirstHealth Gynecologic Oncology. The practice offers a full scope of gynecologic cancer care including diagnosis, surgery, medical oncology, surveillance and supportive care.
Charleston, S.C.-based retail and wholesale fuel distribution and convenience store business Refuel Operating Co. has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Albemarle Oil Co. (ALCO), a North Carolina based convenience store and retail fuel business operating under the ALCO brand.
HAMLET — Richmond Community College continues to expand its co-admission agreements with four-year colleges and universities. College leaders recently traveled to Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs to sign off on “Bulldog Bound,” a direct-entry admission program.
