ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged Hamlet man with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Bryson Lee Pack, 20, is charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one misdemeanor count each of carrying a concealed weapon, driving with a revoked license and possession of marijuana.

A deputy observed Pack driving on South Street and knew that the driver had a revoked license. The deputy confirmed this information while attempting to catch up to the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A vehicle stop was conducted on Broad Avenue. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy observed a baggie on the console. Allegedly, Pack handed the baggie, which appeared to contain marijuana, to the deputy.

When asked if there was anything else in the vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect stated that someone may have left something in the car. Pack was removed from the vehicle and patted down.

Upon a vehicle search, a 0.38 caliber handgun was located under the driver’s seat. It was confirmed that Pack is a convicted felon on parole release.

Records with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety reveal that Pack has multiple convictions for felony breaking and entering.

Pack was processed into the Richmond County Jail under a $25,000 secure bond. He’s scheduled to appear in District Court on March 3.
