Mrs. Elsie Haywood Kelly, 92, of Rockingham, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Richmond Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 18, 1919 in Richmond County a daughter of the late James Ellis Haywood, Sr. and Clara Dukes Haywood. Mrs. Kelly was the oldest member of Cartledge Creek Baptist Church; with 75 faithful years of dedication. She was also the last oldest member of the Haywood family.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Cartledge Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Lutz and Rev. Lester English officiating. Burial will follow in Haywood Cemetery on Haywood Cemetery Road.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Frank Jackson ‘Jack’ Kelly, Sr.; a son, Jack Kelly, Jr.; a daughter, Lavonne Benfield; three brothers, Jack, Carlyle, and Martin Haywood; and a sister, Edna Haywood.

She is survived by four daughters, Pat Bynum of Ellerbe, Dianne Wilson of Gilbert, AZ, Glenda Kelly and Debra Goodwin both of Rockingham; a brother, Jimmy Haywood, Jr. and a sister, Martha Crump both of Rockingham; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Deane and Rick Walker on Kellyville Dr.
