Richmond suffered their closest loss since March 14, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Pine Forest Trojans by a score of 67-65. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn’t forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Richmond’s loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chance Crowder, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 19 points. Ahaiver McDonald was another key player, putting up 14 points.
Pine Forest’s win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelo Jones, who went 10-for-15 to rack up 22 points and eight boards. That’s the most points Jones has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Tubbs, who went 8-for-11 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.
Richmond’s defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Pine Forest, their record is now 14-10.
Girls Varsity Basketball
Richmond came tearing into Wednesday’s matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 44-31 win over the Pine Forest Trojans. Given the Raiders’ advantage in MaxPreps’ North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Trojans are ranked 210th), the result wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Richmond’s victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamyia ‘Juicy’ Lindsey, who posted 16 points and four steals. The game was Lindsey’s ninth in a row with at least 16 points. Jasiah ‘Jo Jo’ Gilchrist was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.
Pine Forest’s defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hannah Miller, who had nine points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahlia Glover, who put up seven points.
Richmond pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points over those games. As for Pine Forest, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
