ROCKINGHAM — The new Biscuitville location will be opening at 1214 East Broad Ave. on Tuesday, May 11.
The existing location at 302 East Broad Ave. will close on Sunday, May 9. The new building includes a double drive-thru at the new location will allow more than twice the amount of cars on the new lot and other updates that will “elevate this location to Biscuitville’s standard brand guidelines,” according to spokesperson Scott Carpenter.
A grand opening will benefit The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, an affiliate member of Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief charity.
“We’re looking forward to seeing our loyal customers from our former location and believe they will feel right at home in our new restaurant,” Biscuitville President and CEO Kathie Niven said in a press release.
Traffic concerns at the previous location caused the addition of a sign warning customers to not stop in the roadway about three weeks ago. Individuals have voiced complaints about the long lines at the drive-thru for years.
A Biscuitville spokesperson confirmed that the closing of the dining room increased the demand for their drive-thru. Local resident Antonia Crank, who said she has seen accidents caused by the traffic backup, told the Daily Journal last week she believes that the new building will improve the situation.
“We have received complaints before and have done the best we could to get cars off of the main road during peak times,” the spokesperson said in an email. “With the implementation of expanding the overall drive thru stack around the perimeter of the lot, we have been able to get about 10 extra cars on the lot before we have a traffic issue.
“We are excited to be moving this location to a brand new building and lot that will significantly improve any traffic concerns over the long term,” the Biscuitville representative concluded.
