ROCKINGHAM — Mr. David “Bud” Roller, 93, passed away on July 12, 2017 at Hospice Haven. He was born Aug. 30, 1923 in Marlboro County to the late Herbert and Annie Roller. His family moved to Rockingham when he was an infant where he resided the remainder of his life.

Mr. Roller was employed by J.P. Stevens for approximately 37 years prior to his retirement. He served his country in World War II as a MP from 1942 until 1946 and served his Lord at the Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy for 85 years.

He was preceded in death by one sister, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bessie Roller; three daughters, Debbie (Jimmy) Quick, Tammy (Jeff) Benson, Robin (Dale) Dixon, and one son, David “Terry” Roller, all of Rockingham; granddaughters, Whitney (Bryan) McLaurin, Cameron (Chris) Whitley of Rockingham, grandsons Lance (Heather) Quick of Winter Park, Florida, Eddie Thomas of Raleigh, two great-grandsons Tristin McLaurin, and Holden Whitley, one great-granddaughter Brylee McLaurin all of Rockingham.

Funeral services will be held at the Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers Street, Rockingham on Saturday, July 15 at 2 p.m. with Bishop Fred Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary and other times at the home.
