LETTER: Better health care for the Capitol Hill crowd?

To the editor:

Do you remember when Obama was trying to get Obamacare going? Remember the talk about politicians and all their respective staff and unions being able to get special waivers so the politicians would catch a break on insurance costs and have far better health care than the people at large?

Remember how we, the people, got righteously indignant and a flurry of talk abounded on Capitol Hill about “good enough for the people, good enough for the politicians?” Then the talk died down and we, the people, lost our focus and the problem went away. Sorta.

Well, guess what? It’s back! Actually, it’s gone again because these folks in office have decided that they, the politicians, should have better health care than the citizens and they should get it at fire-sale prices paid for by American taxpayers.

They won’t have to worry about being denied expensive health procedures because their cases won’t be discussed by an “end of life” panel composed of appointed judges who are not lawyers or doctors.

“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.” -Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers
