RICHMOND COUNTY — Richmond Senior High School recently announced Cassie Tyler as the new head coach of the Raider Cheerleading program.
A Richmond County native and former Raider Cheerleader, Tyler brings 15 years of experience coaching competitive cheerleading.
“We had a lot of strong applicants for this position, but Coach Tyler stood out as the best fit for our program,” said Athletic Director James Johnson. “Her extensive background in competitive cheerleading, along with her leadership and vision for the program, made her a great choice to build on the success of Raider Cheerleading.”
School officials said Tyler has spent more than a decade coaching, leading teams to success on the competition floor while also focusing on teamwork and personal growth. One of her proudest coaching moments was winning the NYAA Nationals, sharing, “Seeing the athletes come together, pushing each other to excel, and ultimately achieving our goal was incredibly rewarding.”
Beyond the skills, officials said Tyler is passionate about instilling values that will serve her cheerleaders beyond their time as a student.
“Cheerleading is about more than just stunts and routines — it’s about teamwork, leadership, and school spirit,” Tyler said. “I want my athletes to feel confident and prepared, knowing they have the skills and support to succeed in everything they do.”
Looking ahead, Tyler said she is eager to strengthen the program while continuing the traditions that make Raider Cheerleading special.
She said she hopes to create an uplifting atmosphere for both the athletes and the fans, ensuring that Richmond Senior’s cheerleaders bring energy, pride and excitement to every game and event.
