McDonald

ROCKINGHAM — Sheriff’s deputies say a Richmond County man robbed a convenience store clerk on Tuesday.

Christian Jade McDonald, 20, of Rabbit Haire Road outside Rockingham, went into a store on Chalk Road and demanded money, Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Jay Childers said in a Wednesday statement.

Dispatchers told all law enforcement officers in the area to be on the lookout for a white man driving a black passenger car wanted in connection with the robbery shortly after 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies stopped McDonald’s car a short time later on Freeman Mill Road and arrested him on a charge of common-law robbery, Childers said.

McDonald was booked into the Richmond County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court July 2.
