ROCKINGHAM — Two teens are facing murder and robbery charges in the killing of a man late last month.

Investigators say several leads led to the identification of the suspects: 18-year-old Jimiel Lovon Lindsey and 16-year-old Kevin Orlando Bowe Jr.

Lindsey and Bowe are accused of killing Benovente Jesus Dominguez on a path near two apartment complexes off Biltmore Drive on June 23 and robbing him of an unspecified amount of U.S. currency, according to the Rockingham Police Department.

The victim was a cook at Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant in Rockingham, police say.

No other details were available Monday afternoon.

Investigators still have not said how the victim was killed, but a caller to 911 described hearing a gunshot and described the gruesome discovery.

Police Chief Billy Kelly told the Daily Journal the day following the homicide that officers were waiting on an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.

He also said that the killing was not believed to be gang-related.

Lindsey and Bowe were arrested Friday and each charged with one felony count each of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

As on Monday afternoon, they were still being held in the Richmond County Jail without bond. The two are scheduled to appear in Richmond County District Court July 28.

Online records with the N.C. Court System and N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show neither has any other pending charges or previous adult convictions in North Carolina.

This was the second homicide investigated by the Rockingham Police Department this year.

Rufus Alexander Helton was charged in the February shooting death of Joe Braddock. There is no scheduled appearance listed with on the North Carolina Court System’s website.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
