WADESBORO – Anson is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 38-16 to Montgomery Central on Friday night. The loss drops the Bearcats to 0-2 in 2025.
Anson showed short bursts of offense but could not slow the Timberwolves’ balanced attack. The Bearcats got touchdowns from Tasean Harris and Cordarrius Bivens to keep the game within reach at time. Harris broke loose for an early score while Bivens punched in another later, giving Anson fans something to cheer about in a tough matchup.
Montgomery central leaned on quarterback Aiden Shepherd, who threw for 143 yards and a touchdown while completing more than 80 percent of his passes. Running back Nytavis Powell added 42 rushing yards and a score as the Timberwolves pulled away in the second half.
The loss marks the first time the two teams have met since March of 2021 when Anson defeated Montgomery Central 28-12.
Anson will travel to South Stanly on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Montgomery Central will host North Stanly at the same time.
