SOUTHERN PINES — The Richmond boys golf team ended the regular season with a fifth-place finish at Pinehurst No. 6 on Monday, as sophomore Jonathan Rich shot an 86 to lead the way to keep his regional hopes alive.

Jacob Puckett and Carter Richardson, both sophomores, finished with a 92 and a 96, respectively, to fill out the team’s top three spots. Junior Noah Altman was the only other Raider to finish under 100, as he shot a 98.

“Tough way to end our regular season, with the toughest course we’ve played so far. And when you add some wind, it really makes it interesting,” head coach Keith Parsons said. “Still, we all had some great moments. It was so great to see how far we’ve come this season, each player made great strides. With everyone back next season, the golf program is in good shape.”

Richmond totaled 372 points on its on way to fifth place. Pinecrest (309) won the meet, Jack Britt came in second (332), Purnell Swett was third (339), Scotland fourth (362), Hoke County (402) finished sixth and Lumberton was seventh (492).
