ROCKINGHAM — For the second week in a row, inclement weather led to some major changes — announced by school athletic director Ricky Young on Tuesday — being made to the Richmond spring sports schedule.

Richmond’s varsity baseball and softball teams are now combining both of its games against Seventy-First this week into a doubleheader in Fayetteville on Wednesday, seeing that rain and storms are expected to hit the area on Friday.

Both squads will begin the first of their two games against the Falcons at 5 p.m.

On Thursday, the Raiders’ varsity baseball team will play at non-conference foe Charlotte Christian. That game will take place immediately after the junior varsity team wraps up its battle with the Knights.

The Lady Raider softball team will also play a non-Sandhills Athletic Conference game on Thursday, as it’s prepared to host Piedmont. The JV Lady Raiders will face off against Piedmont’s JV squad prior to the varsity clash.

Head coach Chris Larsen and the girls soccer teams — both varsity and junior varsity — had to move their match at Hoke County back to Thursday. For now, they are still scheduled to welcome Lumberton on Friday.

Richmond’s boys tennis team will be competing at the SAC Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. The boys and girls track and field teams are still set for their conference meet at Jack Britt on Thursday.

The girls track and field team will visit Reid Ross Classical School at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
