FAYETTEVILLE — Tuesday’s match was like déjà vu for the Richmond girls golf team.
Once again, junior Hailey Miller finished with the top score and helped the Lady Raiders secure a third-place finish — behind Pinecrest and Jack Britt, respectively, and ahead of Scotland — in a shortened nine-hole match.
The only differences this time around, as opposed to last week’s scorching opener in Raeford, was that this week’s meeting took place at Gates Four Golf & Country Club in Fayetteville and was cut short due to the rain and thunderstorms.
Richmond posted a 228 as a team, led by its top four scorers of the day in Miller (41), freshman Kenleigh Frye (57), freshman Taylor Young (64) and senior Gabby Paone (66). Senior Jessi Graham and freshman Kirsten McDonald each finished the with a 67 to round out the team’s six individual scores.
The Lady Raiders are scheduled to compete next Monday, Sept. 17, at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton, but will be on the lookout for a change in their schedule due to Hurricane Florence — which is expected to hit later this week.
