FAYETTEVILLE — The Richmond boys tennis team is still looking for its first win of the season after falling to Jack Britt 8-1 on the road Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Bradford Pittman — for the second straight match — was the only Raider to grab a win, as he defeated Kevin White (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 5 singles. In last week’s loss to Pinecrest, the freshman took down a senior Jessie Meacham.
“We’ll just keep working every day to get batter,” head coach Patrick Hope said last week.
Seniors Jose Jaramillo and Kristofer Spivey, junior Kevin Campos, and sophomores Austin and Miles Harrington were the other five Richmond players who competed in the singles. Jaramillo came the closest to winning a match, losing by a score of 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles. Campos was second closest with a 6-1, 6-4 loss in the No. 6 bout.
In the doubles, the Harrington brothers lost 8-4 in the No. 1 match while Jaramillo and Pittman dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 2. Juniors Mason Bailey and Caleb Brewer also fell 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles.
Richmond (0-3, 0-2 SAC) will travel to Hoke County on Wednesday.
