GREENSBORO — The Richmond girls track and field team finished fifth overall at the Alton Tyre Invitational Relays at Southeast Guilford on Saturday.
Apex (100 pts) earned more than half its points in the relay events in order to take first place while by Ragsdale (84.5 pts), Southeast Guilford (82 pts), Page (68 pts) and Richmond (67 pts) rounded out the top five.
The Lady Raiders came in second place in shuttle hurdle, 4×100-meter and the 4×100-meter weightman relays.
Freshman Jamaya Bryant, sophomore Jasmine Redfern, sophomore Kibreanna Stewart and junior Taliah Wall made up the four-member shuttle hurdle team that earned eight points with its time of 1:19.7. Junior Nyasia Covington, senior Harmony Jones, sophomore Monasia Kearns and sophomore Dymond McNeal got the 4x100m relay team to the finish line in 52.74 seconds.
The 4x100m weightman relay team — junior Morgan David, junior Imonae Ingram, junior Tasheka Harrington and sophomore Jardai Tillman — was just two-hundreths of a second (59.96s) slower than East Forsyth (59.94s) in its final.
Kearns also came in fifth place in the 100-meter dash (13.47s), Stewart placed third in the high jump (4 ft, 4 in) and fourth in the triple jump (30 ft, 5.5 in), and Wall finished fourth in the high jump (4 ft, 2 in) and sixth in the long jump (14 ft, 6.75 in).
Junior Crystal Johnson, who competed at the indoor state championships last month, threw 29 feet and nine inches in the shot put — good enough for fifth place and four team points.
Richmond will be back in action, along with the boys team, at Pinecrest on Thursday.
