ROCKINGHAM — Bogdan Gilewski (Martinsville, Virginia) won Saturday’s MXA Motorsports Street Car Shootout at Rockingham Dragway when he defeated Gary Sanders (Eagle Springs) in an all-Chrysler products final.

Gilewski — driving a 2012 Dodge Charger — turned the quarter-mile with a 12.063 elapsed time at 114.87 mph, off of his 12.00 dial-in. Sanders, at the wheel of his 2017 Dodge Challenger, lost with a time of 12.549, 104.60 mph, off of a 12.29 targeted time.

Dinky Arias, a 16-year-old cheerleader from Vass, was the semifinalist in her 1998 Dodge Dakota — losing to Gilewski who turned an impressive time of only .003 off of this 12.00 dial-in. Dinky ran 15.440, 89.25, off of a 15.28 dial-in.

Sanders was unopposed in his semifinals run.

The MXA Street Drags program returns to Rockingham Dragway for a two-day weekend on Sept. 9 & 10, accompanied by two days of KMS Drifting competition. The track will host Power Fest 5 this week (Friday and Saturday), the Throwback Motorcycle Shootout (Saturday, Sept. 2) and the Import Faceoff (Sunday, Sept. 3).

This begins the aggressive Fall season for The Rock with thirteen major events produced consecutively.
