GREENSBORO – The Lady Raiders varsity basketball team competed in a neutral-site tournament game Monday, falling 49-34 to Winston-Salem Christian.
The Raiders scored nine points in the opening quarter, but Winston-Salem Christian took an early lead with 18 points in the first quarter. Richmond added seven points in the second quarter, while Winston-Salem Christian extended its advantage with nine points to take a 27-16 lead into halftime.
Both teams scored nine points in the third quarter, leaving the margin unchanged heading into the final period. Richmond closed the game with nine points int he fourth quarter, while Winston-Salem Christian added 11 points to secure the win.
Richmond recorded identical nine-point totals in three of the four quarters, finishing with 34 points. Winston-Salem Christian scored in double figures in three quarters and finished with 49 points.
The game was part of the Carolina Christmas Classic tournament. With the result Winston-Salem Christian improved to 5-5 overall. Richmond Senior continues tournament play before returning to regular-season competition.
