ROCKINGHAM – The Raider varsity soccer team bounced back strong Wednesday night, defeating Overhills 3-1 in front of a home crowd in a conference match.
The Raiders controlled possession early, striking twice in the first half to set the tone. Senior Memphis Jacobs led the charge with two goals, while sophomore Allen Franco added a goal and an assist. Junior Patrick Smith also chipped in with an assist as Richmond built a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Overhills’ Sean Lackey found the back of the net in the second half to cut the deficit, but the Raiders responded quickly to seal the win.
Senior goalkeeper Camden Williams turned in a standout performance between the posts, recording 10 saves and stopping a penalty kick to preserve the victory.
With the win, Richmond Senior improves to 6-10-2 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play as the regular season winds down.
Up next, the Raiders look to keep the momentum rolling when they host conference in rival Union Pines on Monday.
