ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Senior continued their winning streak with a commanding 49–28 homecoming victory over Jack Britt on Friday night.
The Raiders wasted no time taking control, jumping out to a 12–0 first-quarter lead thanks to a touchdown pass from sophomore Ty Covington to senior Amer Morrison and an 11-yard rushing score by junior Chance Crowder.
Crowder struck again in the second quarter with a 29-yard touchdown run, followed by a successful two-point conversion by Morrison to make it 20–0. Jack Britt responded with a rushing touchdown, but Richmond’s defense kept the momentum firmly on their side. Junior Shamir Jones snagged an interception and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown, extending the Raiders’ lead to 27–7 at the half.
Covington had a standout night on both sides of the ball, recording three interceptions on defense — one returned for a touchdown — and completing a touchdown pass on offense. Quarterback Evan Hodges added two passing touchdowns, connecting with Josiah Cooper and Jayden Hamilton.
Jones also set a new season-high with 13 total tackles, helping Richmond’s defense hold the Buccaneers in check despite a late push in the third quarter.
By the end of the third, the scoreboard read 49–28 — and that’s where it stayed, as the Raiders coasted through the final quarter to secure their fourth straight win, improving to 5–2 overall.
Richmond Senior will look to extend their streak on the road when they visit Hoke County on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Jack Britt (3–4) will travel to face Overhills.
