ROCKINGHAM – The Richmond Senior JV football team continued it’s strong season Thursday night with a 50-40 win over visiting Hoke County.
The JV Raiders came out firing, scoring six of their seven first-half possessions to take a commanding 43-18 lead at halftime. Richmond’s ground game led the charge, with freshman running back T.J. Watkins finding the end zone three times in the opening half. Quarterback Damarion Allen added two rushing touchdowns and connected with receiver Dereon Wiley for a passing score.
Defensively, Maurice Lemon helped set the tone early with an interception that led to Richmond’s first touchdown, while Jazari Dawkins added a safety on the following drive to extend the lead.
Hoke County’s passing attack found rhythm late, narrowing the gap in the second half, but Richmond held steady behind a balanced offensive effort. Tyri Wormley capped the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run to secure the win.
The victory moves Richmond to 6-1 overall, maintaining an unbeaten 3-0 record in conference play. The JV Raiders will host Overhills next Thursday, October 23, for their final home game of the season. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
