Hamlet’s Earl Bradshaw, center, celebrated his 100th birthday early with his great-grandson Drew Butler, a former Richmond Senior baseball standout and current member of the Campbell University team, and his grandson Jim Butler, the principal at Hamlet Middle School. Bradshaw threw out the first pitch July 31 at the Holly Springs Salamanders game against the Fayetteville Swampdogs. Drew Butler was second on the team during the 56-game season with a .301 batting average. He went 1 of 3 with a stolen base against the Swampdogs the night his great-grandfather was honored.
