To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported a fundraiser held on my behalf on April 21.

The Daily Journal was kind enough to promote the event, which was organized by Neil Parrisher, and supported by so many of my friends, whom I can’t thank enough.

The story printed in the Journal detailed my need for a heart transplant, but was published before I had to be rushed into emergency surgery and placed on a heart pump. The emergency procedure prevented me from being able to attend the fundraiser and thank everyone in person, but I do want to publicly extend my gratitude and hope to thank everyone in person once I’ve regained my strength and can get out of the house.

I’d specifically like to thank the lane sponsors who made the cornhole tournament possible: Kim Ruest, Terry Lewis, Jason Deane, “John John” Kester, Tim Hayden, Wallace Turkey Shoot, Twisted Treats, Modern Woodmen, D&A Skull Mounts and Robbie and Dawn Snead; as well as everyone who donated items for the live auction and hot dog lunch. Larry Smith was instrumental in organizing the raffle of a television, as well as cooked all of the hot dogs. I’d also like to thank Dan McInnis, who won the television and donated it back to the fundraiser.

I apologize if there’s anyone else I should have mentioned in print, but I do want you all to know I’m humbled by the support the fundraiser received and I do look forward to being able to thank everyone in person who came out and took part in the event.
