To the editor:

The Rockingham Middle School Junior Beta Club offers our appreciation and thanks to the citizens of Richmond County for your support of our students this academic year, particularly with our barbecue fundraising effort.

A special thanks to Amy and Richard McRae, Big K LP Gas Company of Rockingham, Lee and Amy Berry of the Berry Patch in Ellerbe, Gina Henry and Smithfield’s Hog Division of Laurinburg, and Eric Thompson and Valley Auto World of Fayetteville for your support of our group through various food and business donations.

Rockingham Middle Schools is fortunate to have benefactors who, through their generous contributions, enable us to offer challenging and motivational activities to our students. This endeavor has truly been a community effort, affirming the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.”

The Junior Beta Club also commends parent and faculty volunteers for their assistance with this initiative. It is a task to orchestrate deliveries, prepare plates, bake desserts for such an event, yet you accepted the challenge without hesitation. We recognize that it is only with help, such as yours, that these events can take place.

Our gratitude especially extends to Marshall Berry and his staff for their tireless efforts and graciousness throughout the implementation of this event.

Please wish our Junior Betas continued success as we travel to Disney World in Orlando, Florida for the national competition this June. Excelsior!
