To the editor:

As I write this letter, the grand prize in the lottery’s Powerball game is $1.5 billion Imagine winning a different kind of “grand prize” and having $86,400 deposited into your very own bank account each day.

This game has rules that have to be obeyed.

Rule No. 1: At the beginning of each day, the bank will deposit $86,400 into the player’s account.

Rule No. 2: The player cannot transfer any of this money into another account.

Rule No. 3: The one who is supplying this money reserves the right to say “Game over!” at any second of any day.

What will the player do in this game? Will he buy all those things he has always wanted, but really does not need in order to lead a normal, happy life? Will the player share with those who are suffering because of natural disasters, etc.?

Will the player seek out the poor in his area to offer help to those who refuse to ask for assistance because they were raised by parents who refused to take government assistance because of pride?

Will the player only share with those who he considers his family and friends who are not really in need of anything? Will the player be called a Good Samaritan when the final trumpet sounds at the end time?

Actually, this game is real — most people never see it or think about it.

The “grand prize” is time. We awake each day to 86,400 seconds.

Our Creator, Yahweh, gave us these seconds when he created us and, according to Hebrews 9:27, he appoints a time to die and a time to be judged.

Without time, money is useless, so what do we do with our prize? Be the Good Samaritan.
