On the Beat, Off the Bench

in

I grew up with red dirt on my cleats and a glove in my hand, playing softball in rec leagues and school ball. Sports have always been part of my life — not just to play or watch but to experience. That’s what makes it such an honor to take on this role as your new sports reporter for the Journal.

My goal is simple: Cover it all. Football, basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, cross country, track and field, tennis, golf, bowling, drag racing, yoga — if it’s a sport or fitness event in our community, I want to be there.

This column won’t just be about scores and stats. I want to shine a light on the moments that matter — the early practices, the late-game comebacks and the quiet determination of athletes who don’t always make the front page but still give everything they’ve got.

Whether you’re in the stands, on the sidelines or lacing up yourself, I hope you’ll follow along. I’m here to tell the stories of our teams, our athletes and the passion that drives them.

See you out there,

Brittany Evans
