ROCKINGHAM — David Emmons, who recently joined FirstHealth Family Medicine in Rockingham as a family nurse practitioner, regards health care as a passion.

“I believe that health care has always been my calling,” he said. “I enjoy treating patients of all ages, from newborns to grandparents, so I am proud to be a new provider here in Rockingham.”

Also providing services in the family medicine office located at 921 Long Drive, Suite 101, are Dr. Kimberley Lingler, Dr. Gleybis Sanchez, physician assistant Emily N. Phillips and family nurse practitioner Tonya Eteo.

“We are happy to have David Emmons join the fine providers at FirstHealth Family Medicine in Rockingham,” said John Jackson, president of FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. “With his clinical background and education and Spanish fluency, he is a great addition to the practice. As a longtime volunteer with Trips for Kids Charlotte, he has also demonstrated a particular interest in children, which is always of great value in a family medicine practice.”

Emmons earned his bachelor’s of science in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his master’s of science in family nurse practitioner from South University in Charlotte, where he was summa cum laude and first in his class. He also has an associate degree in applied science from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte.

Before joining FirstHealth Family Medicine, Emmons completed clinical rotations in family practice, pediatrics, women’s health, geriatric health and orthopaedics. His clinical interests include ADHD and hypertension and educating patients about taking ownership of their health care.

He and his wife, Rebekah, have four children.

Personally, Emmons enjoys helping people, hiking, camping, playing sports and living in North Carolina.

“I believe that North Carolina is one of the finest and most beautiful places I have ever been,” he said.
