ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Hoke County man with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Eric Vonn Locklear, 25, of Bluesprings Road in Red Springs, is charged with two felony counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one felony count of second-degree kidnapping and one misdemeanor count of assault with a deadly weapon.

On Oct. 22, Locklear allegedly stole $5,000 from Hoffman Gaming and $600 and an Apple iPhone 6S from a female victim using a semi-automatic handgun by pointing the handgun at the victim’s head, according to court documents.

Locklear was arrested Dec. 18 and is currently being held at the Richmond County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. He is next scheduled to appear in Richmond County District Court on Feb. 4 after his case was continued during his appearance on Jan. 4.

On Jan. 5, Locklear’s attorney, Kelly Williams, filed a motion with the court for Locklear’s bond be reduced to a $10,000 secured bond. But, no decision has been made yet by the court.

Records with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety show that Locklear has past convictions for misdemeanor larceny and breaking and entering from 2018 in Hoke County, for which he was sentenced to probation.
