HAMLET — The Hamlet Police Department has charged a woman in the robbery of the Dollar General on King Street.
Danilla Missy Bethea, 32, has been charged with one felony count of armed robbery.
On the evening of Oct. 5, Bethea allegedly entered the Dollar General store wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hood, surgical mask and gloves, according to Hamlet Police Chief Tommy McMasters.
She then allegedly pointed a firearm at the store clerk and demanded money. She allegedly stole $644.24 and left the store, McMasters indicated.
Bethea was arrested on Oct. 8, and is currently being held in the Richmond County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond for the charge. She is scheduled to appear in Richmond County District Court on Oct. 22.
Records with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety show that Bethea has past convictions for misdemeanor larceny from 2005 in Hoke County and 2019 in Scotland County, for which she was sentenced to probation.
