ROCKINGHAM — Warrants for the two individuals charged following the incident that lead to Rico Shelton’s death on April 8 name Shelton as a co-conspirator in a robbery of a home on Richmond Road.

Rico Joke’a Shelton, 26, was found dead in a residence on Richmond Road on Monday from a pair of gunshot wounds to the ches, according to the Rockingham Police Department. On April 13, RPD revealed that two suspects had been arrested with a juvenile expected to receive charges, but it was still unclear what transpired that night.

Warrants made available Thursday allege that Shelton conspired with Traniaya Lanae Brower, Dominique Rasheen Powell and a 15-year-old to rob the resident of the home on Richmond Road. The group then threatened a man in the residence with a gun and demanded money, according to the warrants.

It was after this confrontation that Shelton was shot and killed.

He was sentenced to probation for these charges.
