HAMLET — Silver Cross Events will hold their fifth annual Office Professionals Luncheon April 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium at Richmond Community College.

Sharon Nichols, event organizer, said the goal of the show is to provide business owners a special way to show their appreciation for office personnel who help keep the business running smoothly.

“Businesses can treat their administrative staff to a fabulous lunch and a mid-day get away from the office!” Nichols exclaimed.

The event is held on Administrative Professional’s Day, which is recognized on a Wednesday during the last full week of April, also known as “Administrative Professionals Week” to encompass the expanding responsibilities and wide-ranging job titles of administrative support staff, according to the Office Professionals Luncheon website.

In addition to lunch, catered by Rick’s Catering from Laurinburg, Nichols said they will also have a guest speaker. This year’s speaker will be Matt Rudisill of Hickory, owner and lead trainer of the Leadership Academy. He works as a business consultant to several startup companies and teaches social media principles to business owners.

Past speakers have been Rockingham Mayor Steve Morris, Chairman of County Commissioners Kenneth Robinette, David Stogner with the Richmond County Young Professionals and Butch Farrah, director of Richmond Community College Small Business Center.

Farrah said he was the guest speaker for last year’s luncheon and he talked about work ethic and what that means to a company and how it can affect the profitability of a business and the outcome of a career. He said he enjoyed the event because it shines a light on the work that might go unnoticed.

“It was good to recognize office professionals because often they work in the background,” said Farrah. “It was a chance to honor the work they do in the business. And it was a good opportunity to not only speak to professionals but also management together in the same room.”

Following the presentation, Nichols said there will be door prizes.

Reservations are due by April 19. Reservations can be made at www.officepronc.com.
