ROCKINGHAM – Remember field day back in elementary school where you’d compete with friends to pass a ball over your heads and under your legs down the line? Or toss water balloons to see who could stand farthest apart but still catch it?
Relive those days on June 28 with family at Falling Creek Recreational Park for Rockingham Housing Authority’s annual Family Field Day.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., families will have the chance to participate in games — like tug-of-war, sack racing and running obstacle courses — and win prizes during the fun-filled event.
Teraefean Goodwin, Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency coordinator of the Housing Authority, said it’s her first time coordinating the event but she’s excited to see the turnout.
“I’m looking forward to the community coming out, having a good time and learning about the resources available to them in the area,” she said, with N.C. Works, FirstHealth, the Rockingham Fire Department, Richmond Community College and New Horizons Life and Family Services scheduled to be at the event.
Other than the games, activities for the field day include a tattoo booth, blood-sugar screenings, food and bounce houses.
The event is free and pre-registration is not required. Teams for events are able to sign up on the day of.
