Barnhill gets DOT paving contract

ROCKINGHAM – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $4.9 million contract to repave more than 16 miles of N.C. 73 in Richmond, Montgomery and Moore counties.

Barnhill Contracting Co. of Rocky Mount will resurface a 12-mile segment of N.C. 73 between the Montgomery County line and U.S. 220, as well a 4.5-mile leg between Moore County and U.S. 220 in Richmond County.

The work also will include sections of secondary routes, including Cartledge Creek Road, Grassy Island Road, Airport Road and Hannah Pickett Road in Richmond County.

The contractor will have until August 2019 to complete the paving.
