WADESBORO — The application deadline for the 2017 Bright Ideas grant program has been extended through the end of September. Educators now have until midnight on Saturday, Sept. 30 to submit their applications for grants of up to $2,000 from Pee Dee Electric and North Carolina’s electric cooperatives.

Bright Ideas grants are available to K-12 teachers for innovative projects in any subject. Applications require an outline of the proposed project, a detailed budget and a description of the benefit to students. Applicants are encouraged to highlight the innovative, creative elements of the project and to proofread carefully.

“Education is a key component in building and maintaining strong communities,” stated Ashley Haynes, communications specialist at Pee Dee Electric. “Pee Dee Electric is proud to support the communities we serve by supporting the educators who shape our future leaders.”

Pee Dee Electric and North Carolina’s electric cooperatives collectively have allocated close to $600,000 to give to educators across the state during the 2017-2018 school year. Grants will be awarded in November for projects in all grade levels and all disciplines, including math, science, art, language, music and history.
