HAMLET — The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is hosting a “meet the chancellor” gathering for UNCP alumni and friends residing in Richmond County on Nov. 10.
The event will focus on UNC Pembroke’s long-standing partnership with RCC. For more than a decade, UNC Pembroke has offered distance education courses on the Richmond Community College campus.
In 2013, UNCP and RCC established a dual enrollment program, allowing students to enroll at both institutions simultaneously. UNCP’s distance education offers four undergraduate degrees at RCC.
RCC President Dale McInnis, a supporter and UNCP alumnus, will offer remarks. McInnis was recently appointed to serve on the Provost Search Committee at UNCP.
The event is being hosted by UNCP faculty members and Richmond County natives Dr. Irene Aiken and Dr. Charles Jenkins.
Aiken, UNCP alumnus, serves as dean of the School of Graduates Studies. Jenkins, a long-time education professor, previously held the positions as interim chancellor, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings and his wife, Rebecca, are both thrilled for this opportunity to network with their Brave Nation family in Richmond County, according to a statement.
The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Cole Auditorium on the campus of Richmond Community College. The auditorium is located at 1042 W. Hamlet Ave. RSVP to UNCP’s Graduate School by Nov. 4. Call Gary Locklear at 910-521-6271 or email email@example.com.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served.
