ROCKINGHAM — Local youth soon won’t be able to complain about having nothing to do or anywhere to go during the summer.
A Delightful Tour’s party bus will be hitting the road on trips to Bank of American Stadium — home of the Carolina Panthers — and to Myrtle Beach.
Antoinette Flowers, owner of the party bus, filled out an application through the NFL team to request a tour of the stadium. She and another chaperone will accompany the kids as they take an hour-long tour of the Bank of American Stadium with a guide and follow that up with a pizza party on the bus. The price is $29.75 per child and include the tour and lunch.
“Because we’re so far away and we have a bus, it’s something I’d like to do. It’s something for the kids,” said Flowers. “How many have been to the stadium?”
Scheduled dates for the five trips will be July from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., July 13 from noon to 7 p.m., July 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All excursions will depart and return at the Walmart parking lot at the designated times.
Also on the slate for the summer are teen trips to Myrtle Beach.
Teenagers participating will have the option of going to Club Karma, a teen club, or to go to the beach with another chaperone.
“It’s something for the teens,” she said. “A lot of them don’t get to get out.”
She used her 17-year-old son as an example with football, sports and being home taking up most of his time.
“It gives them something to do,” Flowers said. “Some clean, safe fun.”
The party bus owner wants to break the teenagers up into two separate age groups so every Wednesday from June 8 through Aug. 31, teens ages 13-15 will depart Walmart at 5 p.m. and return at 1:30 a.m. Every Thursday during that same time period, teens ages 16-18 will head to the coast.
The cost to reserve a spot for the Myrtle Beach trip is $35.75.
Up to 28 teenagers can take a specific trip during the summer, so Flowers stressed seating being limited.
