HAMLET — The Hamlet City Council will consider renewing an EMS contract and recommending a 35 mph speed limit along a portion of Hylan Avenue during its special meeting Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m.
According to the draft agenda, council members are scheduled to consider the renewal of the city’s EMS contract under new business.
The council will also consider Resolution 2026-11, which would recommend changing the speed limit on Hylan Avenue to 35 mph from Carl Martin Avenue to the Hamlet city limit.
Other items on the agenda include budget amendments, the city’s annual tax settlement, tax releases and a list of surplus property. Those items are included on the council’s consent agenda.
Residents will have an opportunity to address council during the public comment portion of the meeting. The city manager, council members and mayor are also scheduled to provide comments.
Council is also expected to enter closed session under North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(3) and (5) for attorney-client privilege to discuss the lawsuit Terziu v. Smith and other matters, as well as the possible acquisition of real estate.
