HAMLET – The John C. Felder Foundation invites the community to celebrate John C. Felder Day on Aug. 29 from 2-6 p.m. at The Ballroom in Hamlet.
A Hamlet native and automotive pioneer, John C. Felder made history as the first American to sell automobiles in Cuba in more than 60 years, opening new opportunities for innovation and international commerce. Through his company, Premier Automotive Export, Felder successfully exported Wheego electric vehicles to Cuba, demonstrating his commitment to advancing sustainable transportation and breaking barriers in the automotive industry.
Today, Felder’s focus has shifted from making history to creating it for future generations.
During the celebration, the John C. Felder Foundation will officially recognize the donation of two Wheego electric vehicles to Jennifer Everett, chairwoman, The John C. Felder Foundation. The vehicles will support the development of future educational opportunities in electric vehicle technology, helping prepare students for careers in one of the nation’s fastest-growing industries.
“Education and opportunity have always been at the heart of my mission,” said Felder. “If we want young people to lead tomorrow’s transportation industry, we have to provide them with the tools, technology, and inspiration to begin today.”
Guests will also enjoy the premiere of a newly edited version of Driving Towards Change, the documentary chronicling Felder’s extraordinary journey from Hamlet to becoming a history-making automotive entrepreneur. The event will include community fellowship, opportunities to learn more about the Foundation’s mission, and information about the John C. Felder Automotive Scholarship, established to encourage students pursuing careers in electric vehicle technology.
The John C. Felder Foundation is committed to inspiring the next generation of innovators through scholarships, workforce development, educational partnerships, and community engagement. This event is open to the residents of Hamlet and Dobbins Heights (aka -North Yard).
