ROCKINGHAM — FirstHealth of the Carolinas is proud to recognize respiratory therapist Allyson House with the BEE Award for providing exceptional care and compassion to a patient and her family at Moore Regional Hospital (MRH)-Richmond.
The BEE Award recognizes non-nursing team members who go Beyond Exceptional Expectations by demonstrating outstanding commitment to patients, families and colleagues.
House, who has served as a respiratory therapist for 19 years, was nominated by the family of a patient who recognized her clinical expertise, compassion and advocacy during a critical moment in their loved one’s hospitalization.
After listening carefully to the family’s concerns and conducting an additional assessment, House identified a potentially serious change in the patient’s condition and worked with the care team to ensure the patient received the timely treatment she needed.
In their nomination, the family expressed deep appreciation for House’s compassion and willingness to listen, crediting her with helping ensure their loved one received prompt, life-saving care.
“I am proud of the recognition, but I am even more grateful that I had the chance to make a difference in someone’s life,” House said. “The kind words from the family really made my heart smile. I am also incredibly proud to work alongside such a wonderful respiratory team that consistently shows up for our patients and for each other.”
According to Mitch Staub, director of cardiolpulmonary and respiratory care at MRH-Richmond, House’s commitment to her patients extends well beyond providing excellent clinical care.
“When caring for patients, Allyson builds meaningful connections and is always willing to advocate to ensure they receive the best care possible,” Staub said. “She is a highly skilled respiratory therapist with exceptional listening skills, allowing her to develop care plans that address not only her patients’ physical needs but also their emotional well-being. She exemplifies the compassionate, patient-centered care we strive to provide every day.”
The BEE Award (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) is designed to honor non-nurses who help support nurses in delivering exceptional patient care.
Nominations can be made to honor patient care technicians, specialty technicians, respiratory therapists, food and nutrition staff, transport or other colleagues outside of nursing.
