RICHMOND COUNTY — Two Florida fugitives facing charges related to the death of their child were arrested Wednesday by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators and the United States Marshals Service.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Leon Alejandro Jr., 21, and Samantha Angeline Feliz, 21, both of Hollywood, Fla., were arrested Wednesday morning at 950 Ledbetter Road in Rockingham.
According to officials, Feliz gave birth to her child between Dec. 6, 2025, and Jan. 5, 2026, but the birth was “concealed and occurred somewhere other than a hospital.”
Family members reportedly saw the couple with their child during the child’s first month of life. However, officials said the infant was never seen again with the parents after that. According to investigators, Alejandro and Feliz denied the child was theirs and claimed it was a “prank.”
Despite the lack of medical records or a birth certificate, Florida investigators charged the suspects with aggravated manslaughter of a child, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, duty to report death to the medical examiner’s office, false information concerning a missing child and false reports to law enforcement during an investigation.
The suspects had reportedly fled to Richmond County and were living on the property of a relative of Alejandro’s at the time of their arrest.
Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged both suspects with fugitive of justice warrants and placed them in jail with no bond.
“This is a prime example of agencies nationwide collaborating to uphold justice,” said Sheriff Mark B. Gulledge in a media release.
