ROCKINGHAM — American Legion Post 147, Rockingham-East Rockingham, hosted the North Carolina Department of the Legion Riders on the second day of their cross-state journey, during which donations were collected for The American Legion Veterans and Children’s Foundation (VCF). This year’s ride was conducted in memory of Jack Ward.
We had the pleasure of welcoming over 60 riders, accompanied by their families and friends. Jeff Joyner and I greeted all attendees and provided an overview of our post’s mission to support veterans and youth within our community. Subsequently, the briefing was handed over to Mr. Jake Newman, who discussed their travels, outlined the objectives of this year’s Legacy Run, and invited donations from all present, including organizations from the surrounding areas.
Upon completing these activities, the riders prepared to proceed to their next destination: Harrisburg Veterans Park in North Carolina.
