ROCKINGHAM — On May 26, 2026, Melissa Wall, Regent of the General Henry William Harrington Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), presented an American flag to Sean Ledbetter, Plant Manager of Mount Vernon Mills, at their facility located at 235 River Road in Rockingham.
This presentation was part of the chapter’s invitation to Richmond County Chamber of Commerce members to join in celebrating America 250 and Flag Day by proudly displaying the American flag throughout 2026. Mount Vernon Mills enthusiastically participated, reflecting its longstanding commitment to American manufacturing and community partnership.
America 250 offers Richmond County an opportunity to showcase its history, unity, and patriotic spirit. To support this effort, the General Henry William Harrington Chapter, NSDAR invites Richmond County Citizens to participate through simple, visible acts of patriotism, including:
• Flying an American flag throughout 2026
• Replacing worn or tattered flags
• Requesting a flag if they do not currently have one
The chapter has a limited supply of 3’ x 5’ outdoor American flags available and offers assistance with the proper retirement of worn flags.
“These small gestures, when embraced across the county, create a powerful visual reminder of our shared American identity,” said Regent Melissa Wall. “As we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we hope to see flags flying proudly in every corner of Richmond County.”
