HAMLET – Hamlet Post 49 has begun hosting American Legion Baseball, with several games occurring over the past week.
The Junior team began the season on Tuesday, June 2 when they battled against Liberty Post 81. They would bring in a lot of momentum when they ended with an 8-2 win. Both the Junior and Senior team would look to continue the momentum the next day when they battled Moore County Post 12. The Junior team was unable to continue the momentum, facing an 18-10 loss. The Senior Team, however, brought in their first win when they defeated Moore with a score of 2-1.
The Junior team would also take another loss on Thursday, June 4, when they battled HiToms Post 87. They would lose 0-12, unfortunately showing that the momentum from the first win was unable to be continued.
On Monday, June 8, the Senior team would begin their second week with another loss, unable to find their stride in the beginning of the season. They faced the Davidson County Post 8 Senior Hawgs, ultimately losing 7-11. They had a lot of momentum early in the game, but were unable to keep it going.
Both teams will try to bounce back later this week with some wins. The Senior team will face Chatham American Legion’s team at home on Thursday, June 11 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Junior team will have a rematch against Moore County Post 12 on Saturday, June 13 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
