ROCKINGHAM – Coach Caroline Wilson and the Lady Raiders welcomed elementary softball players to the softball field for the second summer since she became coach.
The Lady Raiders had a great season, with the Junior Varsity team only taking one loss. The JV team ended the season with a 16-1 overall record, which gave them a 0.941 win percentage. Their only loss was to West Stanly at the beginning of March, their second game of the season. However, they were able to secure a 15 game winning streak for the remainder of the season, showcasing how outstanding the upcoming Varsity players will be. The Varsity team held a conference record of 7-3, which put them in 2nd place in the Mid-South 7A/8A Conference. They had an overall record of 9-14 and ended with a 220 NC Rank.
The Elementary School Camp took place from Wednesday, June 3 to Friday, June 5. The little athletes were able to put their gloves to use as they went through drills with the Lady Raiders. They also got to pick which position they wanted to train with, giving them the freedom to build their skills however they wanted.
The Middle School Softball Camp will take place next week, beginning on Monday, June 8 and ending on Wednesday, June 10. There is still time to register if you have a middle schooler interested. The camp costs $65 with a processing fee of $4.25.
