RICHMOND COUNTY — A shooting in the Windblow community left one man dead and another in custody.
According to arrest warrants, Michael Thomas Long, 64, of Windblow, is charged with murder in the death of Lacy Kyser Jackson.
Long was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon for allegedly possessing a 12-gauge pump shotgun. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 4.
Court records show Long was convicted in 2009 of felony possession or distribution of a methamphetamine precursor.
Records also show Long received traffic citations in April for allegedly failing to wear a seat belt and operating a vehicle without insurance.
According to a Friday news release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the Richmond County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the shooting at approximately 11:47 a.m.
In a separate case, a Hamlet man is accused of trafficking methamphetamine.
According to an arrest warrant, Yusuf Niam Hassinne Robinson, 50, of Hamlet, was allegedly found in possession of 49 grams of methamphetamine and digital scales.
Robinson was charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 4.
Court records show Robinson was previously convicted of selling a Schedule II controlled substance in 1992 and 1994, and possession of a firearm by a felon in 1993.
In another case, a convicted felon is accused of breaking into a residence and threatening to kill someone.
According to arrest warrants issued Monday by the Hamlet Police Department, Isaiah Jaquan Dixon, 35, of Rockingham, allegedly entered a residence on Taylor Avenue in Hamlet with the intent to terrorize or injure an occupant.
The warrants allege Dixon threatened the victim by placing a firearm on a table while facing the individual and stating, “‘I’ll kill you.’”
The firearm was described in the warrants as “a black Glock 19 9mm with tan magazine with one loaded in the chamber.”
The warrants also allege Dixon resisted officers by remaining inside a locked bedroom after multiple commands to exit.
Dixon was charged with felony breaking or entering with intent to terrorize or injure, misdemeanor communicating threats, misdemeanor resisting a public officer, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Court records show Dixon was previously convicted in Richmond County Superior Court in 2021 of possession of a firearm by a felon stemming from a 2020 offense. He received an active sentence of 23 to 40 months through a consolidated judgment.
Dixon was booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, with another hearing set for June 15.
