RICHMOND COUNTY — A Hamlet man faces felony charges following an investigation into damaged AT&T cables, according to an arrest warrant issued Monday by the Hamlet Police Department.
Court records allege that Joseph Wayne Parrish, 44, pulled down AT&T cables and cut them using bolt cutters.
According to the warrant, Parrish was also found in possession of bolt cutters, a small hand saw, a flashlight, latex gloves and thick rubber gloves. Records further allege that he attempted to enter the AT&T building on Main Street in Hamlet.
Parrish was charged with felony injury to personal property involving AT&T fiber cables and felony possession of burglary tools.
He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 28.
Online court records also show Parrish has a pending charge in Montgomery County from June 2025 for possession of drug paraphernalia.
In a separate case, officers with the Rockingham Police Department arrested an Ellerbe man Friday in connection with a stolen motorcycle investigation.
According to a press release from the department, officers received a Flock notification May 15 regarding a stolen motorcycle. Officers then patrolled the Rockingham Road and Pickett Street area, where Officer Lee located the motorcycle on Pickett Street.
While checking the area, Officer Lee observed a man matching the description associated with the motorcycle, the release stated. When officers attempted to detain the individual, he reportedly refused multiple commands to stop before being taken into custody without further incident.
The individual was identified as Darrell Little, 53, of Ellerbe.
Police confirmed the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Stanley County.
Little was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and transported to the Richmond County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
