Raiders Track and Field bring in big wins

WAXHAW – The Raiders Track and Field had some notable results in the NCHSAA 7A Central Regional Track Meet in Waxhaw on May 9.

Keonta Pegues would have a huge day. In the 100 Meter Dash Finals, he finished in second place with a time of 10.71, which was only .12 seconds slower than the winner. In the Long Jump Finals, he would take the win with a mark of 22-1. He would also place third place for the Triple Jump finals, with Tyrese Collins placing fifth and Amer Morrison placing ninth.

In the Boys 4×100 Meter Relay Finals, Richmond Senior took the win with a time of 41.80, less than 0.5 seconds quicker than the second place of Reagan. In the Boys 4×200 Meter Relay Finals, Richmond Senior would also take that win when they were less than 0.2 seconds quicker than Southwest Guilford. In the Boys 4×400, Richmond would place fifth.

The ladies would also have some good results. They placed ninth in the Girls 4×100 Meter Relay finals. They placed tenth in the 4×200 Meter Relay Finals. They placed eleventh in the 4×400 Meter Relay Finals. In the Girls Shot Put Finals, Zairranhha Ray would place second place with a mark of 36-4.25.

The next meet is scheduled for June 18 in Greensboro for the adidas Track Nationals.
