RICHMOND COUNTY — A Scotland County woman is accused of causing a vehicle crash and possessing methamphetamine, according to a citation.
Kimberly Dawn Brigman, 54, of Laurinburg, was a passenger in a 2016 Jeep when she became involved in an argument with the driver. During the dispute, Brigman allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, causing a crash. The incident occurred on Lackey Street on Sunday, May 3, and was reported at 7:19 p.m.
Authorities said Brigman knew the driver did not have a valid license but allowed him to operate her vehicle.
Records indicate Brigman was found with an unspecified amount of methamphetamine and a glass pipe.
Brigman is charged with one felony count of possession of methamphetamine, one misdemeanor count of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also received citations for allowing an unlicensed person to drive and driving with wanton disregard.
She was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance was May 4. She is scheduled to appear in court again May 12 on the criminal charges and July 14 on the traffic infractions.
Court records show Brigman has pending charges in Scotland County dating back to 2023, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
In a separate case, a man is accused of trespassing and damaging property at the Rockingham Housing Authority.
According to an arrest warrant issued May 1, Dakota Damar Leake, 39, allegedly remained on the premises on Armstead Street after being told not to enter or remain on the property by an authorized individual and Rockingham police.
Leake is charged with second-degree trespassing and injury to real property. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 22.
Records show Leake was convicted of damage to property in 2025.
