ROCKINGHAM – The Raiders Junior Varsity and Varsity Softball teams conquered the Pinecrest Patriots on Thursday, with the JV team coming out with an 8-7 win and the Varsity team coming out with a 10-0 win.
The Junior Varsity Raiders came in with a 15-1 overall record, while the JV Patriots came in with a 2-4 overall record. The Raiders had already defeated the Patriots on April 28 with a score of 9-3. At bat, several players dominated to help Richmond reach their ending score of 8-7. Freshmen Autumn Cooper and Kaydence Cooke each had one hit, one run, and one RBI. Cooper pitched the whole game, allowing nine hits and seven runs (one earned), with four strikeouts.
The Varsity Raiders continued the momentum when they also defeated the Bucks. Richmond came in with an overall record of 8-13, while the Bucks came in with an overall record of 8-11. The Raiders had already defeated the Patriots on Tuesday, April 28 with a score of 12-7. At the bat, Senior Kinsie Lyerly went 4-for-4, with three runs, four hits, and one RBI. Sophomore Sydney Barnes had one hit, one run, and two RBIs. Overall, the team had 13 hits, 10 runs and six doubles. At the plate, Sophomore Madison Hancock pitched six innings, with four hits, zero runs and four strikeouts.
These were the last games for the Lady Raiders Softball teams.
