Lady Raider soccer bounces back with conference wins

RAEFORD – The Lady Raider soccer teams bounced back with two conference wins against the Hoke County Bucks on April 24.

The JV Raiders were looking to bring in a win after a tough loss against the Jack Britt Buccaneers on April 21. Freshman Molly Covington showcased her strength with two goals and four points. Freshman Kallie Hamby would score one goal and two points. Sophomore Matti Wallce would have one assist and one point. Sophomore Sherly Ramirez would tend the goal, ensuring that the Bucks did not have a chance to score. They ended the game with a 3-0 win. This would bring the JV ladies to an overall record of 7-5 and a conference record of 4-4.

The Varsity Raiders would also turn the tides, winning 3-2 after also suffering a tough loss on Tuesday to the Jack Britt Buccaneers.

Senior Jentry Denson would score one goal and two points for the team. Junior Colbie Covington would have one goal, one assist, and three points. Junior Mariana Gonzalez would have one assist and one point. Senior Olivia Brown would tend the goal, securing the game for the Raiders by only allowing two goals for the Bucks. This brought the Varsity team to an overall record of 5-10-2 and a conference record of 1-6-1.

Both teams look to continue this momentum when they face the Pinecrest Patriots on May 1. The JV Raiders will start the day at 5:15 p.m., with the Varsity team following at 7 p.m.

These games will also be conference games, but conquering the Jaguars will not be an easy task. The JV Patriots are coming in with an overall record of 14-1-1 and a conference record of 2-0, while the Varsity Jaguars are coming in with an overall record of 14-0-3 and a conference record of 8-0.
